Wedding Videography: why?

Relive the memories; visually.

by Torin Gunnell Digital

The wedding video your parents received probably isn’t very inspiring, after all; it’s sat in the back cupboard of theirs on a VHS tape for years collecting dust most likely.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen an EXPLOSION in the quality, accessibility and usage of video to communicate anything, we’ve all got high quality video cameras in our pocket and obsess over scrolling through user generated videos until we find one we want to watch. The wedding industry has caught up, and there has never been more talented videographers with Netflix quality equipment ready to capture your wedding day and give you a film you’ll watch over, and over, and over again.

Over the years I’ve heard from so many guests say while working a wedding “Not hiring a wedding videographer is my number one regret.” They don’t regret their choice of venue, how the invitations looked, who they invited, what sort of alcohol they served; they regretted not having it recorded on film.

Here’s 4 reasons why a wedding videographer is a MUST, especially now that we’re so accessible and social media is such a large part of our lives.

1) Allow people who weren’t there, to feel like they were: sometimes you can’t invite everyone; and that’s okay. Most videographers give their clients hours of footage neatly edited together to give the viewer a full replay of the key moments in your day! (It’s okay if you watch them back too)

2) Did you miss something? Your videographer probably didn’t. While you were in the bathroom freshening up; something HILARIOUS happened that you’ll only hear people chatting about later.

3) You only get one chance for your life to be a movie; this is it. You are investing time, blood, sweat, tears, money, and a whole ton of other things into this one magical day. Your wedding videographer will ensure they capture it all with YOU as the star; fancy that!

4) Some moments just look better on film: Would you rather watch your entire first dance or glance at just a single image of it? If you’re someone who wants to relive moments that happen throughout the day over, and over, and over again; videography might be for you!

I’ll end this post with a quote from one of my brides:

“I’m so happy that we decided to add on videography last minute, it’s only been a year and we’ve watched our wedding video countless times. I never got to see my husband getting ready in the morning, how anxious he was waiting for me to walk down the isle or be up close and personal at our first look; thanks to Torin I have all of that on film. For that, I will be forever grateful.”
